The Yamaha Offroad Experience set up in 1994, is the longest established motorcycle experience and training centre in the UK.  It was set up by Enduro legend and multi British Enduro Champion Geraint Jones.

History

Set up in 1994

The Yamaha Offroad Experience as it is now known, was formerly known as the Geraint Jones Enduro School. Geraint who is a former multiple British Enduro Champion and legend of the sport started running enduro training schools back in the mid 80’s, and it became known as the Yamaha Offroad Experience in 1994 when Yamaha came on board.  Yamaha have supported to this day, and been a massive part of what has been developed over the years.  Geraint’s sons Rowan and Dylan have now taken over the running of the business, both top level Enduro riders in their own right, although Geraint is still involved and still coaching.

Where

Llanidloes

Mid Wales

The Yamaha Offroad Experience is based 5 miles outside the Mid Wales town of Llanidloes, high in the Cambrian Mountains, which can be found just off the main A470 road. The major cities of Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and Cardiff airports are all approximately 100 miles from our base.

We have our own 300 acre farm which backs onto the magnificent ten thousand acre Hafren Forest and Sweet Lamb motorsport complex which make up our vast riding areas.

What we do

Our aim is to offer something for everyone, an off road tryout for a complete novice who wishes to experience what offroad riding is all about, to top level national enduro riders who want help to improve their skills and take them to the next level. We have a variety of terrain, from farmland and open hill to the vast forests, including the motorsport mecca Hafren Forest. This is enduro heaven and has staged British, European and World Enduro Championshp events over the past 20 years. It has everything you would expect from a Welsh forest, from rocky tracks, tricky assents and descents, bogs, ruts and easy gravel paths and fireroads.

The Tenere Experience days cover a larger area, also taking in the other forestry blocks, country roads and the green lanes around Mid Wales, which are perfect for adventure bike riding.
